Prophesies from all over the world say that something will happen on December 21, 2012.
Culture's from all over the world agree that 2012 is an end of some kind. Some say that it will be an awakening and others that it will be doomsday. There are those that claim that we choose what our reality will be. Our current situation seems to be echoing the prophesies as well. With the economic crisis, solar flare warnings, oil crisis, global warming, earthquakes, and the list goes on and on. There are even strange spirals and lights in the skies, do doubt a tribute to the strange times that we are living in. It's an overwhelming thought that world could be forever changed, or even end.
Many myth's and prophesies predict an end on or around 2012. The most notable being the Mayan. The Mayan Calender is cyclical, repeating itself every 52 Mayan years. The Mayan Calendar is comprised of three concepts of time:
- Sacred Calendar (tzolkin or bucxok, 260 days long)
- Civil Calendar (haab, 365 days) and
- The Long Count
Mayan Prophesy
The counting of time begins on the day 0.0.0.0.0 4 Ahau, or 8 Cumku, which is equivalent to 13 August 3114 a. C. in the Gregorian calendar and ends on December 21, 2012. The high Mayan priest, called ah kin, would utilize his understanding of the cosmos in accordance with Maya religion to make predictions about the future and man’s destiny.
So what do the Maya say will happen in 2012? Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility.

The I-Ching, Book of Changes, is an ancient book of Chinese origin. Along with the Bible and the Koran, it is one of the most translated and studied books on the planet. The Book of Changes is the epitome of Chinese philosophy, founded on transcendental Taoist understandings and modified by Confucian logic. It is studied for its pragmatic yet esoteric wisdom and consulted as an oracle for its solutions to life's problems. It is a book of 64 readings, each chapter made up of a different 6 line Hexagram. The readings include commentaries and advice on all the different archetypal life experiences a person or group may live through.
The Book’s origin is credited to the legendary emperor and sage Fu Hsi, who lived approximately 5-8000 years ago. It was he who first found and understood a “line symbol system” inscribed on the shell of a mysterious tortoise. Fu Hsi recognized the importance of the 8 Trigram symbols and how they represented Reality on all levels. It is interesting that other ancient cultures in the world also used various types of “line symbol systems” for representing primal and universal values.
The McKenna brothers in their book The Invisible Landscape arrived from the I Ching 2012 end date by using fractals. Fractals are a geometric pattern that is repeated at every scale and so cannot be represented by classical geometry. Starting from a table of differences between one hexagram and the next, they developed a Mandelbrot (a set of points in the complex plane, the boundary of which forms a fractal) fractal in which each level is 64 times greater than the one below it. They then laid this fractal pattern on top of a time scale. The peaks and lowest points of the pattern relate to the level of connectedness and originality in any span of time, whether it covers a day, millennia or even since the beginning of time. By matching the levels of the pattern with key periods in history, they determined it would fit best if the end of the time scale was December 22, 2012. This is the only point in which the level of novelty (new thing or experience) reaches its maximum, and everything that happens is new.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the United States government that is responsible for aviation and spaceflight monitoring. NASA does a lot of different things including making satellites that helps scientists learn more about Earth, the Solar System and even beyond. NASA 2012 probes into space even send humans to the moon. They share their discoveries to enlighten people about the current developments in space and in Earth in terms of air travel.
Recently, there had been a lot of controversial questions aimed at NASA about the predicted solar and Earth catastrophe on 2012. This catastrophe is said to be caused by the planet called Nibiru or Planet X that will pass on the Earth’s surface and will cause polar shifts, earthquakes, tidal waves, severe flooding, meteor fire storms, volcanic eruptions and the like.
The questions started upon the discovery of a Sumerian ancient tablet written in cuneiform detailing the map of the galaxy and each planet’s precise size and position. Sumerian civilization is the oldest on earth and according to the theory of Zecharia Sitchin they are the descendants of Anunnaki, the gods of Nibiru. Zecharia Sitchin has devoted his life on studying ancient civilizations and translating ancient texts, cuneiforms and clay tablets. According to the ancient texts, the last time that Nibiru passed the Earth’s surface it caused The Great Flood that occurred around 11,000BC which resulted in the extinction of almost all life form on earth. But according to NASA 2012 astronomers, there is no threatening asteroid that is going to pass Earth on the year 2012. The last big impact was 65 million years ago that led to the extinction of dinosaurs but it will not happen with Nibiru or Planet X on 2012. Although Earth had always been a planet that is subject to impacts by comets and asteroids, the chance is very rare. NASA astronomers are carrying a surveillance called Spaceguard Survey to observe the galaxy and find any large asteroids near Earth before it hits us. They have determined that there are no threatening asteroids large enough to cause massive catastrophes on Earth especially on 2012.
On the claim about the impending NASA 2012 doomsday, NASA questions the presence of science to prove that the theory is probable. There is none, and for all fictional assertions written in books, movies and in the internet, NASA won’t alter their views about a need for scientific evidence. Still, the Sumerians are intelligent people who are known for their precise mathematical calculation of the objects in the galaxy. They existed and survived centuries before modern science was invented. Their existence without modern science is documented and their prediction for the future cannot be ignored as plain irrelevant. Some of the knowledge that modern science applies now are products of the ancient’s research and knowledge, in one way or another. In the end, it cannot be denied that the past defined our civilization today.
